Happy Father's day yesterday Dad!! And shout out to Grandpa, Jed and Jay too! And I guess to all the fathers haha. It was a pretty good week! Not as eventful as last week though! We went on Exchanges, so I went to Moreno Valley with Hermana Oswald. She's awesome! We had sooo much fun! And our teaching just synced together it was awesome! The Spirit really guided us in all the lessons and we were able to set some people for baptism! They have a really good area! Not going to lie, it was kind of nice going somewhere care free, without having so many investigators with so many problems. When I came back and Schmidt told me all that happened in our area. I just felt the weight and burden of all these people in our area just hit me all at once. Made me really think how amazing the Atonement is when our Savior felt EVERYTHING for EVERYONE! And wow I'm so grateful for it! Because of the Atonement that burden that hit me was able to be lightened because the Savior already paid it for me! I love the people here so much, I love Perris, this is my home! But I think I'm starting to get the feeling that I'm needed somewhere else and I'm ready to move on. But we'll see what happens! We get transfer calls Saturday! At this point I'm totally fine with either outcome!

So I OYMed this guy at Rio Ranch Market that ended up being in our area, only taught him once, and then he came to church Sunday! His name is Jeff, he's 20 and he's super cool! He's really changing his life around! He's taken out his piercings and has stopped drinking already! But at church we were kind of confused cause he kept going back and forth saying like oh I don't feel comfortable here, then wow this place is great, then I don't think I'll ever become a member, then who knows maybe this is the religion for me. So we don't really know where he stands right now. We have a lesson with him Tuesday, but his desire is definitely there!

BUT. He was the only that came to church! :( Sam had surgery on his finger, so he was in a lot of pain, and Gloria went with him that day and it made her feel super weak and hurt. So they didn't come :( but hopefully next week they can! Pray for them! Which means they're off date of the baptism cause they have to go to church 3 times before they're baptized. So we'll have to set them back on for in July.

We don't really know what to do with everyone else. Yesterday we were just like, "okay we need to figure all these people out." So we prayed for help to know if these people are ready or not, and Heavenly Father definitely answered our prayers! One guy was like fighting us, so he got dropped. Then Manny, we thought we were going to be dropping him, but now he's on date for baptism in July! So! We're just figuring everyone out and if they're desire isn't there, we're dropping them, cause no one is progressing! We have no idea what's going on with Sarahi and the fam. They said that they were going school shopping in Hemet instead of coming to church... so not sure! But it's to the point where we've taught them everything so we don't really know what to do with them anymore! But the Lord has a plan for them, and for everyone of our investigators! And one day the time will be right :) Well that's about it! Have a great week! Love you!

Hermana Nelson

ps World Cup started! SO bummed I can't watch it! Of course EVERYONE here is obsessed with it! Everyone loves their Futbol! One of the members hooked us up with a sweet deal on some Mexican jerseys! (since I'm half Mexican now I have to root for them)

p.s.s we got to feed the Manzo's 10 day old puppies at dinner with them! Too cute!

That's so cool that you got to go to the San Diego temple! Do you remember the sister missionaries names?? One of our best friends in the MTC went to San Diego! Was it Hermana Hyde?? Sounds like there's a lot of changes going on back home! So crazy! Everyone's lives need to freeze while I'm gone! haha just kidding it's fine... ;)

Oh goodness! What a week! First off, I hit my 6 month mark! Sister Schmidt put streamers and stuff everywhere for me and I celebrated by having Cap'n Crunch for breakfast (sugar cereal haha) But we had kind of a long week, and we both got a little sick which made it even more fun! How in the world I get a cold in 90 degree weather I will never know! Prob just all the people I meet! But don't worry, I took lots of meds so it wasn't that bad :)

So we had a lot of lessons, but it just felt like no one was progressing! We had an awesome lesson with Sarahi and the kids, and they all want to get baptized, but they decided that they want to wait til they move back to Mexico (which they don't even know when-4ish months) so that Sergio's dad who is a recent convert, can baptize them. So I mean it's cool that they have family there and want that, but it makes just nervous that it's so long away cause Satan works SO hard on people, especially when they're preparing for baptism! So basically Sarahi told us that she wants us to teach them and prepare them, and then they'll get baptized in Mexico. We'll see if anything changes!

We dropped some more people, met a couple of cool new people, but no one came to church! Like we had zero investigators! That's the first time that has ever happened! So Sunday morning was a little depressing. We need to figure a lot of people out and start finding some more people. BUT! I saved the best for last HOLY MIRACLE! So we got permission from President to go and see Gloria in the hospital yesterday, so 2 members took us, so we could visit them and give her a Priesthood blessing.

So we get there and she was doing a lot better! She was so happy to see us! She was just talking her head off! So cute :) Then she was just telling us miracle after miracle! We were just speechless! So we were explaining how the Priesthood blessing was going to go, that first they would put a little bit of oil on her head and she was like wait! Then she told us that when she was in her coma (she was in a coma for like 3 days) the only thing that she remembers from it is that someone put like liquid stuff on her head and she was like, "it's that oil you're talking about!!" So our jaws just dropped! Then she was going off about how she knows all of this is true, she's been telling all of her friends and family about it, then she said her sister told her that her nephew in Mexico got baptized, into "Mormons" and Gloria couldn't remember the whole name of the church, just that it was the Church of Jesus Christ, but her sister just knew it by Mormons. So then Gloria was like, "so that's the church right? Cause of the Book of Mormon!" We're like, "YEAH!" So then she was just amazed that her family in Mexico is learning all the same stuff and meeting with the missionaries over there. THEN! So they didn't have a car, and someone just like gave them a car! So then she was all excited to tell us that they can drive themselves to church now and she really hopes she can come this week! So we set them on date for the 29th and they're so excited! And obviously so are we!! We weren't expecting all of this to happen at all! Hermano Perez and Yokshas gave the blessing and the spirit was so strong in that little hospital room! She got released from the hospital last night and we're going to have a lesson with them tomorrow! MIRACLES!! Even in the midst of our mas o menos week, Heavenly Father was helping us the entire time with Gloria and her family. Never ceases to amaze me the miracles we see here! Thanks for all your prayers! Hope you have a good week! And I have a lot of pictures to send!

Hermana Nelson

ps remember how recent convert Maria bought me high heels? She also bought me a dress... haha she's a little crazy, but has the sweetest heart! so we decided to take a picture of both haha

p.s.s picture shout out to Hailey for sending me a shower cap! (selfie pics included)

June 2, 2014

Hola! Buenos dias :) I did get the first package! It was great! Thanks so much! I get my prescriptions at Rite Aid now, cause there isn't a CVS close, so I don't know if I still need to call them or not? Hey that's funny you're in San Diego! That's only like an hour away from here!

This week was good! We have picked up a lot of new investigators! I have been praying that people who are ready will be put into our path, and they definitely have! And we've had a lot of like group teaching situations! Super fun cause people keep like inviting their friends and stuff to the lessons, but at the same time it's really hard cause we teach one thing one day, and then the new people are like lost so then we like need to teach the Restoration again, and the environment is hard cause there's so many people asking questions and talking. But! It's been fun!

I can't remember if I mentioned Gloria and Sam before, but we just happened to meet them when they were at their son's house, and we were just walking on that street, so we left a Harvest Blessing with them, then they gave us their address, and ended up living in the other side of our area! So super cool! So we taught them Restoration this week, and they were like super quiet and didn't really want to participate and like answer questions and stuff, so we had no idea what they were thinking! Then when I asked them if they thought it was true, they said yes, and then Gloria just opened up and said that she thinks it's true, and took it as a sign that we found them that one day, we're the only church that has actually come to her house to teach her instead of just inviting her to church, and one of her family members that we prayed for in the harvest blessing like miraculously got healed the next day so she totally knows we were there sent from God! Super cool! So they accepted a baptismal date for the 21st! But Gloria went into the hospital Saturday, not completely sure why, we were only able to talk to Sam on the phone for a little, but she's in ICU. Then we stopped byyesterday and their kids were home and they said if she waited longer she would've died! No idea what's going on, but keep them in your prayers!

Sarahi and her family are doing pretty good! Slooooowly progressing. And we just found out that they've been going to another church occasionally too? Sooo don't know what's going on there! Yaxuri really wants to get baptized though! She was begging Sarahi, "Please let me get bow-tee-sized mom!" (that's how she pronounces it haha) But Sarahi just wants to make sure and feel more ready.. so we'll keep working with them! I have some funny pictures of Yaxuri and Oscar swimming in their "pool", but I forgot them so I'll send them next week!

Well everything is going pretty great! I come home in a year from today! So crazy! Time is flying! I love being a missionary and sharing what I love with these people that I love :) It's the best! Have a great week! Go to the beach in San Diego since I can't! ha Love you!

HEEEY :) Sounds like you had a pretty great memorial day weekend! I actually thought yesterday, "hey I wonder if they're going to go to Jim's" that's funny. Just a normal day for us! Except for that fast that all the libraries were closed so we couldn't email! But it's been a good week! So Hna. Schmidt is from West Jordan! (I swear everyone is from Utah!) And she was on her mission in Chile for 10 months, then her comp got Tiberculosis (I have no idea how to spell that haha) so they reassigned her and 2 other girls to missions in the states! So her Spanish is really good so hopefully she can help me out with that! But she's great! We've already had a lot of fun! And made cupcakes yesterday! Okay let's be honest, she made them, I ate them haha. But it's going to be a good transfer! A lot of people got moved around this transfer! Like half of our zone left! And my first district leader, who is English speaking, got switched over to be ZL, Spanish speaking. So that's super funny that's he's in our ward now. Finally there's someone that knows less Spanish then I do haha! And Elder Taylor from my MTC district got sent here too! So that's going to be fun!

Oh my goodness! So we did a service project for Sarahi last week, we thought we were just helping her clean for like an hour, nope. We helped her fold clothes for 3 HOURS!!! They had 3 bins full of clothes! It was crazy! I felt like I was working at Old Navy again! haha but it was really good! We got to know her better and now she likes us and trusts us even more! They're doing pretty good, but progressing slowly. We had a lesson with the Dad, Sergio finally, but still doesn't want to change anything, but said he was going to come and bring his family to church Sunday, but then he like left early that morning. Super sad. But they love everything, they just don't like to be rushed or they start freaking out.

We picked up a really cool investigator! Maria (of course right??) we just decided to knock on her door when we were at her neighbors house and she seems super elect! She asked a lot of good, sincere questions! She's catholic but doesn't agree with a lot of the stuff they do, and her brother was baptized into the church not too long ago! And from our first lesson she's solidly on date for June 15!

On the low side, we dropped Norma this week. Aye. Soooooooooooo sad! She just keeps taking steps backwards. Hopefully us dropping her will help her realize what she's missing and will show up at the church one day. Keep praying for her!

Then on another positive note, Ernesto received the Holy Ghost Sunday :) yay! It's been a good week! The Lord's hand has been very easy to see this week! We have just been in the right place at the right time, saying the right things alllll the time! It's sooo cool! Such a blessing :) Well have a great week! Love you!

p.s. I missed you the other when there was a huge spidey in our house and I couldn't call you to kill it. But don't worry, I made Hna. Schmidt do it ;)
