February 24, 2014

YO! Sorry I just barely missed you on email last week! But thanks for checking out everything with my account. That lesson sounds like fun! It's always good to get everyone involved like that! So weird that I missed all of winter there! And I can't believe it's going to get hotter here. It's hot!! But I love it!

So this week was CRAZY! I've learned A LOT about myself this week. Sis. Williams has been pushing me hard! Which is good, cause I'm learning and growing a lot, but it's straining, and it's difficult! Once I accepted that, that's how it's going to be, guess what happened?? The most unexpected thing that no one was expecting! We got call from President Saturday morning and we were like what the... transfer weekend, but training is for 2 transfers so we weren't even worried about it or anything. So yeah Sis. Williams is going to Riverside today! HUGE curve ball! So I'm going to have 2 moms (your trainer is your mom). Everyone was shocked and even President said he wasn't expecting it. So, I'm taking over the area! Scary right? But I don't know, I guess Heavenly Father trusts me with this brand new area for some reason! My new comp is going to be Hermana Graham, who is currently serving in Lake Elsinore and I spent a day with her when Hna. Williams stayed home from the car crash, and she's soooo sweet! I'm excited about it! So she's coming here in a few hours! Everything happened so fast! When I look back, this transfer was crazy! Doubled in, opened a new area, car crash, struggling with Spanish, getting pushed hard, and now my trainer is leaving and it's in my hands. But I know Heavenly Father has a plan for both Hna. Williams and I, and for what ever reason, we were only meant to be together for half of my training! But this is supposed to happen, so we'll see!

BUT! I'm super pumped about this area! We've definitely built this area and the harvest is beginning! We have a few super legit people and they're awesome! So I'm really glad I'm staying with them! The picture of the family that I'm sending is the Ferla family and I love them to death! They are awesome! But they haven't been keeping commitments, so we decided to go over every night this week before they go to bed, just for a few minutes and read the BOM with them. So we went over last night and Victor (the dad) Was like, "I've never seen the family so excited to have company over. We've been looking forward to you guys coming all day!" And they are so cute that they made us cupcakes for the occasion haha they're super sweet! And the reading was awesome! I'm excited to go over the rest of the week!

Then we started teaching this couple the Monroys, and they are totally already members! Like they said they were coming to church with us Sunday before we even asked them! They're soooo cool! But they are talkers so it's always hard to get out of there! They're funny! But yeah they're accepting everything and came to church, I'm sooo excited for them!

OH! We went to the temple Tuesday! Aw it was the best! It's like the smallest temple ever! But oh man I seriously miss going to the temple so much! We go every other transfer, so I won't get to go for a while! So everyone take advantage of living in Utah and living so close to so many temples! Such a blessing!

Anyway, I think that's pretty much it! Everyone smile and have a good week :)
Love,
Hermana Nelson
p.s. y'all should try nutella on blueberry begals.. My new addiction.. :)

Sister Williams Burning her Brace

Burning Sister William's Brace

February 17, 2014

Happy late Valentine's day! Hope it was fun for everyone! There was like no one home on Valentine's day, which was expected. Then we had english class and only two people showed up. So that was my Valentine's day! Sounds like Stake conference was awesome! I'm sad I couldn't be there for it! That's an incredible story about that family! You finally got the letters?? Wow! I sent them probably a week before Christmas? That's funny! Guess that means I just have a lot of letters sitting in Mexico for me!

This week was good! The weather finally picked up and it has been hot! In the 80's and 90's! Gettin tan ;) which reminds mean, everyone thinks I'm either Latino or French? Like what the? But I get that allllll time! So it's pretty funny when people ask what nationality I am and I'm like uhhh American? Maybe it's cause I'm not blonde anymore! I have no idea!
Hermana Williams got her brace off this week and is now independent! Woo woo! And it was her year mark this week, so as celebration we burned her brace at Luna's! So fun! I've missed camp fires! (pictures included ;)

So we dropped more of our investigators (all the ones that were our Februray baptisms. :() So that was sad! Then Cruz dropped us through someone else? Her baptism was set for this week and she just told her friend that she doesn't want to get baptized and she's always going to be catholic. So I guess she was just lying to us the whole time? I don't know. Here we thought she was super legit, and yeeeeah. But we've picked up 7 new investigators this week! Hopefully all this just means that the elect are coming forth! WHICH! Oh my goodness I have a cool story! So yesterday after we went to the Elder's Baptism, Luna came out with us teaching, and both of our set appointments weren't home. We only had like an hour left til we needed to go home and we still needed one more Member Present Lesson to hit standard this week. So we were debating about just going up to these guys playing basketball and just get a quick one there, but then realized that it would just be about getting the number so we decided against it. So we went back to the car and Sister Williams was like, "alright Sister Nelson. You need to recieve revelation for us." So I said a prayer that we would know who to go and see and was looking at some names, and decided that Javier and Celest stuck out. So we went to go see them, but had a hard time finding the number of the house cause it was in a trailer park. Then we found the number on a mail box so we were still confused. So we prayed again, then got out of the car and at that exact moment this guy walked up to the fence and we asked him if he knew Javier, AND IT WAS JAVIER! He invited us to come to his house, which was a camping trailer in the back yard of some else's trailer. Like we would have NEVER found it! We all just looked at each other like whoa did all that really just happen?! Then we left a harvest blessing with him and his wife and it was the most powerful one I've been in! Celest is just bawling, Luna and I are tearing up, it was sooo strong! They need this gospel so badly right now! Which I definitely know that the Lord wanted us there for them! It was an amazing feeling that we were instruments in the Lord's hand in finding His children who live in the boonies with no phone, no house number nothing! So I'm really excited about working with them! They're sweethearts! Sorry this was so long, but y'all know I have to give details in my stories ;) anyway! Have a great week and strive more to recieve revelation and be an instrument in the hands of the Lord! Love you guys!

The Greenies

Sheep

February 10, 2014

It's been raining here too! Which is awful. But we need the rain too. Whenever I complain that it's cold I just think of Elder Anderson and Beeston who are on bikes and I feel better. I feel bad for them. So we're lucky to have a car! So the card I sent has the translation on the back...so check that out. I'm just trying to teach y'all Spanish!

So this week was good, but we're getting to the point with our investigators that it's either you get baptized, or we drop them. We dropped Maria this week and it was SO SAD. I got to see and feel just a spec of what Heavenly Father and Jesus Christ feels when people reject the gospel and it hurt! She is so close, I just want this so bad for her! I hate how all these people have no idea how much happier they would be with the gospel! No matter how much we tell them, they let their pride and stubbornness get in the way. We just got in the car and cried. It was awful. But! That just means there are other people out there that are ready and we just need to find them! There's a few people that we've picked up that seem pretty legit, but we've only taught them once or twice, so it's kind of too early to tell.

We had the trainer/trainee meeting this week with president and sister Smart. SO GOOD. I love them! I'm sad I won't have them the whole time! They talked about the 10 things that will make us successful missionaries. And I learned that technically, Heavenly Father doesn't need our help for missionary work. He's God! He doesn't need our help with anything! He could do it without us, but he's allowing us to be apart of this work because He knows that it will not only benefit the other party, but it will benefit us even more. The mission makes us grow and refine us in the quickest best way to be truly converted to Him. So I've had a different out look on things this week. I'm so grateful He's allowing me to be apart of this great work. And in turn, He blesses us even more! It's great! Also, everyone that is preparing for missions, read Elder Holland's talk, "Missionary work and the Atonement" from the March ensign of 2001. SO GOOD! And everyone else should read it too!

I went on exchanges with Hermana Luccion this week and it was so fun! She's awesome! I love her! And I learned so much from her! She's a great missionary! Funny story of the week: So we were going to a dinner appointment and the person that answered said, "oh they live behind the gray door" so we were like oh the next house is gray, that must be it. So we knock on the door and this lady is like, "OH come in! Are you guys hungry?? I made curry!" So we're like yeah! We thought she like lived with the member or something, but we get back to the kitchen and it's all these people we don't know. And they're all white. So we just look at each other like uhhh this isn't it. Then this pig just runs in and starts jumping on me. Like what?? A PIG? turns out that wasn't it and it was the side apartment of the first house. We got a good laugh out of that one. Anyway! Have a good week!

Hermana Nelson

p.s. Justin Bieber is going crazy?? But don't worry, we prayed for him in our dinner prayer with Luna and we just laughed after.

p.s.s this pic is from this morning on our way over to email, there was like 200 sheep in the road that run up the side of this little mountain? We were like what the! Cause it's all houses around it so we have NO idea where they came from! So we took a picture, but they were running away from me.

February 3, 2014

HEY! So nice that you guys did that for the sisters, if that ever happened to me, I'd be pumped! That's so awful that the they have to be on bikes in such awful weather! I'm now more grateful I'm not a bike! And that I'm somewhere with good weather! That's funny you saw the Cosgroves! Yeah I knew Cait was going, I she's going to Wisconsin I think!

This past week was pretty good! It was hard with no car cause we had to call a ton of people in order to find someone to take us. We had 3 people bail on us one morning, so we've had english sisters come out with us a lot. Thursday we finally got a car though! We were so stoked!!! It's super nice! It's a 2014 Ford Fusion. So we're back on wheels, which is a lot less stressful and we can do more work! Our investigator pool was doing so good and we were so excited about it, but they're starting to not progress at all, which is super sad to watch! So pray for them! We don't know what will happen. We might have to drop everyone and keep trying to find more. But we found this super legit family who the Dad is inactive and the rest of the family aren't members, but they like love us and we did a Harvest Blessing with them yesterday and the spirit was SO STRONG. It was great! And his little brother actually comes home from is mission tomorrow, so we're going to have him come out with us, so that will be awesome! I'm so excited about them! They're such a great family!

Spanish is still pretty frusterating. I know I just need to be patient and practice, but since Heramana Williams is so good at it, she just kind of takes the reins on everything, which is fine, but I'm trying to get her to give me more responsiblities so I'm forced to speak it. We started doing an english class twice a week which is actually really fun! And made me feel a lot better about my spanish HAHA. I was helping a recenet convert that we teach and she's like this is so hard! And I was like yeah this is how I feel in all of our lessons! So we bonded cause we know how eachother feels!

Oh thanks so much for the package! I'll be set for a while! And we just got back from the store and the prescription stuff worked too, so thanks! Which also, to everyone who has sent me letters, sorry! They had the wrong address, so all of our mail was sent to LA, but they fixed it, so we got a bunch of mail last week, which was fun cause we kind of felt unloved cause neither one of us had gotten anything yet haha so I'll write everyone back today!

Everything else is good! I went to a baptisms the Elders had yesterday and it was amazing! I didn't even know the guy and I'm in the corner like tearing up! HA. The spirit was so strong and I can't wait to help the people in the Tres Lagitos Area (we got to name the area) have that joy! Missionary work is challenging, but it's so awesome and I'm so grateful to be apart of this work when the work is hastening so much! Such a blessing! And the members are so awesome in helping us! Which p.s., I got fed fish TWICE this week. Two days in a row. I was like oh goodness. But I ate it. REALLY fast. And drank A LOT of lemonade! HAHA It's all good. Anyway! Have an awesome week!
